This male Rufous Hummingbird flew through the Kern River Preserve on his way to northern breeding grounds in April. | Ten years ago a few people were invited to Audubon's Kern River Preserve in late July and early August to witness the phenomenon of hummingbird migration in the Kern River Valley. Now hundreds of people come to witness this amazing sight. Volunteers are busy filling feeders as more and more hummingbirds arrive during their annual migration south from their breeding to wintering grounds. Join Audubon staff and volunteers at the Kern River Preserve in Weldon on Saturday August 9th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate these miniature jeweled warriors. |
