The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed removing about 250,000 acres from the nearly 4 million acres designated as critical habitat for the Marbled Murrelet. The Marbled Murrelet is an Audubon Watchlist bird that was listed as threatened by the USFWS in 1992. The Murrelet is native to the Pacific coast, including California.
