Good ideas for State Parks

Clear Lake State Park

The Sacramento Bee recently editorialized about the great needs facing our state parks system and some solutions Audubon California and others are promoting to help fix the problems. One idea we like is creation of a state parks access pass linked to automobile registration. The idea is simple and already proven to work in the state of Montana. The vehicle license fee would be raised slightly with those funds given to state parks to help with upkeep and maintenance. In return California families could visit parks throughout the state free of charge. Just a visit or two would more than make up for the increase in the vehicle fee and get more of us outdoors! What a deal--one we will be promoting in 2009.
