The U.S. Department of Commerce today upheld the California Coastal Commission's recent decision that the proposed Orange County tollroad extension was inconsistent with the state's coastal zone management program. The Transportation Corridor Agencies, which had wanted to build the toll road through some of the last pristine habitat in Southern Orange County, had appealed the Coastal Commission decision to Commerce. Today's decision strikes a probably death blow to the toll road extension.
