The Ventura County Star reports today of a new plan by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to eliminate the population of feral cats from San Nicolas Island. According to the Service, the cats have been preying on "shorebirds and seabirds on the Navy-owned island, as well other endangered species." Although we don't have a link, we hear the that city of Benicia in the Bay Area decided to outlaw the feeding of feral cat colonies in industrial areas that have taken a large toll on birds and wildlife in nearby wetlands.
