By a margin of 43-28 the California State Assembly just defeated the very bad idea of opening up a stretch of coastline off Santa Barbara to oil drilling. It's a great victory for the Coast which is home to many of our state's most sensitive bird habitats. Congratulations to our elected representatives led by Assembly Member Pedro Nava for a great job. And thanks too to our Audubon chapter network that really stood up today and sent a strong message for environmental protection. See our earlier blog posts for more background, but in the meantime, a big win for Nature!
