The Contra Costa Times today offers more on Rossmoor's attempts to address its problems with Acorn Woodpeckers in a nonlethal manner. Of course, the fact that their recent efforts have resulted in the unnecessary killing of at least 42 native birds will prompt us to hold our applause. However, we do hope that their efforts are successful. Moreover, we hope that they will consult some real woodpeckers experts, as their granaries might not be what they think they are. Nothing they've been told to do by non-experts has worked thus far.
